Rita Moreno Kicks-Off The Napa Valley Opera House
Napa, CA - Rita Moreno kicks-off the Napa Valley Opera House 2007 Fall Season with her highly acclaimed cabaret show “Little Tributes” from New York’s Café Carlyle. Accompanied by her musical trio, the stage and screen star will perform songs from a variety of Broadway musicals, as well as nostalgic favorites. Ms. Moreno performs Friday, September 14 and Saturday, September 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45 and $40.
Ms. Moreno is one of a select group of performers to have won all four of the most prestigious show business awards, The Oscar, The Emmy, The Tony and The Grammy. The Oscar was for her performance as Anita in the 1962 motion picture, “West Side Story.” The two Emmys were for a 1977 variety appearance on “The Muppet Show” and in 1978 for a dramatic guest appearance on “The Rockford Files.” The Tony was for her 1973 triumph on Broadway as Googie Gomez in “The Ritz.” The Grammy was for her 1972 performance on “The Electric Company Album” for children which was based on the long-running television show of the same name.
Along the way she received dozens of other show business awards, most notably the Golden Globe Award for her role in “West Side Story” and in 1968 the Joseph Jefferson Award as best actress in Chicago's theatrical season for her brilliant performance as Serafina in “The Rose Tattoo.” In 1985 she repeated her Chicago triumph and was awarded the prestigious Sara Siddons Award for her portrayal of Olive Madison in the female version of “The Odd Couple.”
In 1995 Ms. Moreno received a star on The HolIywood Walk of Fame and in 2004 at a White House ceremony, she was awarded The Presidential Medal of Freedom by the President. Ms. Moreno will make a return to the small screen this fall in the upcoming CBS series "Cane," starring alongside actor Jimmy Smits.

More than 30 years in the making, The Napa Valley Opera House, a national historic landmark, restored the Margrit Biever Mondavi Theatre in June 2003, a second-floor theatre that was originally constructed in 1879. The NVOH 2007 Fall Season marks the fifth year of programming in the intimate 500-seat theatre, the “Jewel of Napa Valley” located in the heart of downtown Napa. Patrons experience an eclectic array of performing arts including theatre, dance, comedy, jazz, blues, world music, and family programming in a world class setting.
