Bay Area Comedian Mark Pitta Hosts The Best Of The San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition
Napa, CA – Big laughs come to the Napa Valley Opera House when notable Bay Area comedian Mark Pitta hosts the Best Of The San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition, Saturday, March 24 at 8 p.m. Also appearing is Jay Wendell Walker, winner of the 2006 San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition and two past Competition alumni. Tickets are $35 and $30.
A national headliner coming from the fervent San Francisco comedy scene of the 1980s, Mark Pitta’s career flourished in LA. First he fulfilled his dream of appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, which led to subsequent appearances with Jay Leno. Stints hosting Totally Hidden Video for the then young Fox network, as well as Friday Night Videos for NBC followed. TV appearances include Mad About You, Third Rock From the Sun and Comedy Central shows Premium Blend, The A-List, Dr. Katz, and Make Me Laugh. Mark’s Bay Area TV credits include five years with Mornings On 2 as a roving entertainment reporter/host.
2006 San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition winner Jay Wendell Walker has been described by critical reviewers as a “Heavy Weight Champion of Comedy.” Raised in a family of vaudeville performers, his career began at the age of 18. His rapid-fire monologue, story-telling, and hilarious facial expressions have gained him success in many comedy clubs throughout the nation.

More than 30 years in the making, The Napa Valley Opera House, a national historic landmark, restored the Margrit Biever Mondavi Theatre in June 2003, a second-floor theatre that was originally constructed in 1879. The NVOH 2007 Fall Season marks the fifth year of programming in the intimate 500-seat theatre, the “Jewel of Napa Valley” located in the heart of downtown Napa.
