To be presented on the Main Stage at Napa Valley Opera House, “Funny Girl” will feature Lucky Penny co-founder Taylor Bartolucci as the legendary Fanny Brice, singing unforgettable songs such as “People,” “I’m the Greatest Star," and “Don’t Rain on My Parade." Musical Direction by Diego Emir Garcia, with Stage Direction by Barry Martin.
Since the creation of Lucky Penny Productions in 2009, mounting a production of the legendary musical “Funny Girl” has been a goal and priority. Unfortunately, the production rights to this show were restricted from many years, in anticipation of a Broadway revival that was planned for 2011. When it became apparent that this planned revival was faltering, Lucky Penny applied for and was granted the production rights.
Lucky Penny Productions has put together a winning team for both on stage and back stage demands.
Leading the cast is Napa Valley’s premier musical theatre performer, Taylor Bartolucci, as Fanny Brice. Those who saw her as Mama Rose in “Gypsy” in 2011 know the show-stopping talent that she brings to this role. Napa welcomes home Equity actor James Sasser in the role of Nicky Arnstein; Kathryn Fletcher takes on the role of Mrs. Brice, alongside the popular Barbara Nemko as Mrs. Strakosh; North Bay favorite Anthony Martinez will play Eddie; with Michael Ross, Andrew Moore, Dan Monez, Dolly Grupalo, Kathryn Williams, Kit Grimm, Katie Kelley, Amber Marsh, Jessica Loesch, Alexis Pierce, Berkeley Rosseau, Travis Brown, Jorge Covarrubias and other area stage veterans rounding out the cast.
To bring the unforgettable music to life, we’ve enlisted the services of Diego Emir Garcia as our Musical Director, conducting an orchestra assembled by Ming Luke of the Napa Valley Youth Symphony, made up of professional musicians from the Bay Area alongside selected local Youth Symphony performers. Our Choreographer and Dance Captain is LC Smith.
Behind the scenes, the tech staff will be led by Assistant Director April George, who will also design Lighting. The extensive Costume Design work will be in the hands of Sylvia Gregory.
