Zoppè Italian Family Circus
Presented by the Napa Valley Opera House at the
Veteran’s Home Picnic Grounds in Yountville
Six Performances, October 8-11, 2009
EVY WARSHAWSKI
How fun it was for the Napa Valley Opera House to get out of its box and present six shows -- under the sun, stars and big top. Zoppe brought smiles, giggles and yes, even tears to over 2,000 people who attended, and already we’re getting asked, “When are they coming back”? What makes Zoppe special is not only their talented corps of stellar performers, but the heart and humor that permeates one’s experience of Zoppe from start to finish. They bring you into their family, invite you to sit down, relax and enjoy a little bit of circus history while you’re mesmerized by an action-filled, highly entertaining, two hours of pure joy. These are the circus arts the way they used to be – unfettered by high-tech(nology), up close and personal -- and just right!

Love Letter to the Circus: The Zoppé Italian Family Circus is pure tradition, pure artistry and pure delighht!
Family activities and entertainment will surround the circus tent. Come early and enjoy a picnic among the trees (bring your own food or purchase food provided by Alexis Baking Company).
A New York Times article praised the circus: “The Zoppé circus evokes something from a picture book: the clown, the trapeze, the dancing dogs, the ring and the tent. The show is frozen in time… exactly the way it’s supposed to be.”
The Zoppé Italian Family Circus is currently touring through the United States and has been featured on National Public Radio, Jimmy Kimmel Live and is the subject of a documentary currently in production, Sawdust: Life in the Ring.
On the treament of their animals...
The Zoppe Circus uses only domestic animals - dogs and horses - who are the personal pets of their owners. As family-owned pets, the animals are raised, transported and housed with expert, loving care. Some of the dogs in the show have been rescued from animal shelters by the Zoppe family.
